Spring and Summer are my favorite seasons, so I always wait with baited breath to view the Spring/Summer collections! Below I have pulled together my favorite looks from New York’s recent collections. They are a combination of my favorite looks for bridal and my favorite looks…for me!!
I was inspired by the Carolina Herrera collection for our bridesmaids collection:
I love this color for maids!
I adore the long skirt and cashmere sweater look for maids.
Douglas Hannant- I loved the color and whimsical aesthetic of this collection
I just love this entire look! I will be recreating it this Spring for sure!
This silhouette would translate beautifully to bridal with a mixture of two different patterns of lace over organza!
Oscar De La Renta- I love everything about this show- the fabulous color, the graphic stripes and the silhouettes!
I am currently experienceing a love affair with color Marigold. I adore this silhouette for mother of the bride!
I am loving the re-emergence of the tea-length silhouette…and this color is divine!
My favorite look from all of the collections! I need to throw a fabulous party so that I can wear this dress!
This would be a gorgeous look translated into bridal. I am currently obsessed with gowns in a shade of neutral- champagne, dark ivory and taupe. And of course, no girl can resist a touch of sparkle!
Another feminine beauty from Oscar. Stunning and romantic!
Alice + Olivia:
I always adore Alice + Olivia’s line. This Chanel inspired ensemble is to-die-for. I am also loving this mint color. It is a perfect spring shade for bridemsaids! I love the pop of yellow with it as well!
I can never get enough of stripes! How fun are these colors?! And can we talk about the shoes?!
Tell us, which are your faves?!

This rustic, autumnal photo shoot took place at Tyrone Farm, a stunning location nestled in the hills of Pomfret, Connecticut, and overlooking the treetops of surrounding Massachusetts and Rhode Island. In styling the fashion for the shoot, the inspiration was eclectic elegance, with a vintage flair. Our concept was to take vintage pieces and show how they can be incorporated into modern wedding day attire. We also included accessories that were new, but had an antique vibe to them, in order to evoke a 1940s feel. The shoot celebrated the perfect balance between rustic and elegant, and had very special meaning for Carla and me, as our beautiful daughters were models. We were thrilled to have this photo shoot featured on Style Me Pretty. If you love it as much as we do, please post the images on Pinterest. Just please provide proper credit.

October’s pretty post features our very special and stunning bride, Heather and her handsome groom Patrick. From the moment we began styling Heather’s look we knew that this night would be one for the record books! The couple’s elegant choice of color and texture and evident welcoming hospitatality, make this wedding the perfect blend of classic and modern with a decidedly southern twist.
Heather wore the stunning Modern Trousseau ‘Mika’ gown paired with a sparking Augusta Jones ‘Trista’ sash and her natural beauty shines with hair and makeup by Dana Bartone and Company. She was decked out in a fabulous headpiece and earrings from Maria Elena and a chic bracelet by Aquinnah. Her veil was effortless yet striking-a custom design by The White Dress by the shore. And can we talk about her spectacular ‘change-into’ shortie by Allison Parris??! When we saw her in this number we were speechless.
We were thrilled to collaborate on this wedding with fellow in WHITE members, Carla Ten Eyck and Jubilee Events. Carla captured the moments beautifully, we especially love those spellbinding shots of the bridal party on the Yale Campus. Day of Coordinator, Jubilee Events, made sure no detail was forgotten even- we love how the floral design (Blush Floral Design) invitations (Smock) , place cards, menu’s (The Green Kangaroo) and cake (The Cake Boutique)- all in keeping with a cohesive feel of elegance. The pineapple, the symbol for hospitality, found its way throughout the all of the wedding details. Hospitable couldn’t describe this couple more, as they are genuine, welcoming and full of love!
Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs!
Read on for a recount of the wedding day from the bride herself. Her reflection sure to get you excited to plan your own soiree!
“I can honestly say that planning my wedding was so much fun, even planning from afar. Patrick and I decided to marry in his home state of Connecticut, where he was residing at the time, while I was living in DC. I am North Carolina native and on our special day I wanted my southern roots to shine through. Therefore, I decided on a southern hospitality theme featuring the symbol of hospitality, the pineapple.
When choosing vendors and venues, I did most of my research online. However, for my dress I received a recommendation from Patrick’s aunt. She said that everyone in CT raves about The White Dress by the Shore and I had to go there! The ladies at the White Dress by the Shore helped me pick out the most amazing Modern Trousseau gown. “Mika” was a beautiful fit and flare adorned with lots of ruffles and exhibited true southern charm. The ladies also helped me pick several amazing accessories including earrings and a hairpiece by Maria Elena, and a very special bracelet designed for me by Kelly Solomon, my wonderful bridal consultant, and the fabulous owner of her jewelry line, Aquinnah.
The marriage ceremony took place at St. Mary’s Church located on the campus of Patrick’s alma mater, Yale University. When I saw St. Mary’s for the first time I fell in love and knew this was the church we had to get married in! It is breathtaking, yet simple at the same time.
The reception was held at Great River Golf Club in Milford, CT. Our southern hospitality theme was represented throughout the décor, which included hand painted pineapple signs, a vintage chalkboard with a hand written explanation of the meaning of the pineapple, pineapple themed paper products, and postcards from my favorite southern cities that served as table signs. Elisabeth from Blush Floral Design Studio expanded upon my southern theme with the floral design, which included such elements as magnificent magnolia leaf and floral garlands and tall purple, green, and ivory centerpieces.
For our favors, my mom crocheted delicate white lace crosses tied with green and purple ribbons. We also gave our guests packets of Moravian cookies, a specialty of my hometown. Also, as a kid my dad would always joke that at my wedding reception we would serve RC Colas and moon pies, true southern delicacies. To honor my dad’s request, we sent guests home with these southern treats!
Patrick and I had the most amazing day and we couldn’t have pulled it off without the help of the best vendor team EVER! They put so much hard work into our day to make sure that it was truly special, and we can’t thank them enough. We are so blessed to have each other and the memories of a truly remarkable day!”
