There is just so much to love about this shoot! I was thrilled when Amy Blau, a long-time friend and publisher of Bliss Celebrations Magazine, asked Jubilee Events, Carla Ten Eyck and I to conceptualize a shoot for the 2015 issue. We collectively decided to do a winter shoot, and Diana and Libby of Jubliee Events put together a masculine-inspired color palette of navy, chocolate, burnt orange and a touch of silver.
Some of our industry besties were brought into the creative process – Hana Floral Design, Ryan Designs, Coral Pheasant Stationery and But a Dream Custom Cakes – and pure beauty was created! I think one of things that I love most about styled shoots is having a concept put out there and seeing how each talented vendor interprets the vision. Often, we each work independently and aren’t aware of how each of the individual pieces will come together to create the finished product. For me, that is what makes these shoots so fun! However, it also makes it essential to collaborate with vendors that you trust and who share a common taste level.
Nichole from Coral Pheasant really knocked it out of the park with the incredible paper for the shoot. Can we discuss the wooden invitation?! Nichole is the ultimate perfectionist. I am in awe watching her style her paper. It is truly an art form!
Truth be told, part of the reason that we decided on a winter shoot was because I wanted to style this angora sweater dress from Ivy & Aster! Its simplistic, clean lines were perfect for the feel of the shoot. PS – the model, Emma, and I had to hop across rocks in a frozen river to get this stunning shot. But it was worth it!
The texture and colors of the table scape were stunning and fit beautifully with the rustic feel of the venue, Gedney Farm. How amazing is this custom-made Love sign by Ryan Designs?!
The original vision involved a horse, and we were hell-bent on making it happen! After many phone calls and a bit of a drive during the middle of the shoot, we found Mr. Eddington! He so desperately wanted to nibble on the bouquet! It was such a great moment – even he is smiling in this shot!
To balance out the masculine colors and details of the shoot, I decided to dress the bridesmaid in a romantic lace dress from Amsale.
I was in love with this ingenious way to display the menu for your guests!
This shot might just be my favorite from the whole shoot! This precious little reception dress is from Kate McDonald bridal. In later shots, I paired it with a matching pleated overskirt for a more dramatic look!
I loved all of the textures in this shoot – the angora sweater dress, fur stoles, leather gloves and the lace bridesmaid dress. I wanted to bring texture into the groom’s attire as well. I had a vision for a velvet tuxedo, and Enzo from Valentino Tailors brought it to life for me. The groom is in a black velvet jacket and our master seamstress, Penny, created a blue velvet bow tie for me!
This series of shots happened almost ‘by accident.’ But sometimes that is how the best images come to life! Enzo showed me this amazing Marsala tweed jacket. It didn’t really fit with the color story of the shoot, but I brought it along any way ‘just in case.’ Our male model, Peter, happened to bring his sweet English Sheepdog puppy with him. As the last shot of the day, we had Peter throw on the jacket and brought in his cute pooch! The result was fabulous, and it made the magazine!
Thank you to Bliss for the amazing opportunity to collaborate on this shoot and a big smooch to my industry friends who are always up for anything, always bring their A-game and never cease to amaze me with their creativity and talent!
