We adore Awards season! It gets us inspired and allows us to get lost for an evening in gorgeous gowns, jewels and beauty! Last night were the Golden Globe awards and the red carpet was full of glamour! I am thrilled to share my 2014 Golden Globe Red Carpet Recap with all of you!
The hot colors of the evening were red, black and our favorite (white)!
The dresses were understated for the most part and were all about the gorgeous silhouette and beautiful fabrics. The jewelry was also very understated. We saw lots of stud earrings paired with a statement cocktail ring. The exception was Sophia Vergara in this glorious turquois statement necklace:
I was thrilled to see Sophia in a fuller silhouette and not her signature mermaid style. She was wearing one of our fashion icons, Zach Posen. Despite, the fuller skirt, the shape of this gown flattered her curves beautifully! I think this gown would translate beautifully into a wedding gown!
Overall, I felt that the hair on the red carpet was a little disappointing. It looked as though most of the starlets did their hair themselves. The exception to this was Cate Blanchette. Her hair style evoked old Hollywood Glamour and she was radiant, as always. She was among my top looks of the evening, which are listed below:
Cate Blanchette stopped everyone in their tracks in this gorgeous lace and organza gown by Aramani Prive. I loved it all – the lace detail, the femininity, the sleeves and the glorious plunging back (be sure to google it).
Taylor Swift is developing into quite the fashion icon in her own right. Her entire look, including her Caroline Herrera gown was stunning.
I loved the color blocking and the beautiful drape and flower in the back of this gown. She looked simply elegant.
Sandra Bullock made my list as well! First of all, her skin is flawless! She seems to get younger with age! I need to know her secrets, STAT! Her Prabal Gurung gown was modern, sophisticated and elegant. It was a risky look for the red carpet and it paid off!
Juliana Margulies looks radiant in this Andrew Gn gown with gold embroidery. The silhouette was simple, but the fit was impeccable and the embroidery gave it just enough glam! Adored the entire look!
Maria Menuonos wins for the best use of color! Her ‘Pantone color of the year’ inspired, orchid gown by Max Azaria was stunning! The silhouette was magnificent and the color really made a statement!
I adore Leslie Mann and had the same feeling about her lace peplum gown from Dolce & Gabanna. This would be a gorgeous silhouette for a wedding gown!
My all time favorite look of the evening, and quite possibly my favorite gown in several award seasons, was this clean, modern, CAPED (!), gown by Ralph Lauren wore by Lupita Nyong’o (a Yale grad)!
Below are the gowns that I felt could easily transcend the red carpet to the white aisle! They were stunning and wedding worthy!
Magrot Robbie in Gucci
Michelle Dockery in Oscar de la Renta
Naomi Watts in Tom Ford
Zooey Deschanel in Oscar de la Renta
As always, there were a few fashion mis-steps on the red carpet, but you all know who they are! We choose to focus on the pretty! Until the Oscars…….

Its almost here! We are rapidly approaching our next Romona Keveza Legends Trunk Show, which beings Friday March 21st and runs through Saturday the 22nd. We couldn’t be more excited to share all of these legendary gowns with our brides- especially from a line that is inspired by our favorite style icons!
Designer, Romona Keveza, interprets the luxury, glamour and elegance of classic beauties in a fresh and modern way, by taking iconic gowns and reinventing them into timeless creations.
Below we have paired a few iconic bridal looks with the gowns we imagined they inspired from Romona’s Spring 2014 Collection- all of which will be available for you to try on during the trunk show!
We love how updated this Audrey Hepburn inspired bateu neckline looks! What a refreshing take on such a flattering style. Add gloves to achieve a more vintage look.
Who wouldn’t love this lace, fit to flare style for its off the shoulder neckline and shapely skirt- it certainly reminds us of the always sultry Sophia Loren. Pair this style with a little bling and you’ll be sure to make a statement.
When you think of a gown inspired by Grace Kelly, it doesn’t always have to mean sleeves! We love a modern interpretation like this blush lace gown. Its unique lace and classically tailored shape make it fit for a princess. Pair this modern look with a classic lace veil for that truly romantic feeling.
lthough different in fabrication, these are both examples of a classic ball skirt- we feel Romona’s interpretation completely embodies the effortless spirit of Jackie Kennedy. With that iconically cinched waist and updated sheer neckline, you’re sure to make heads turn.
Ring us at 860.669.4596 to find the gown from Romona Keveza that makes you feel like a legend in your own right! Romona’s head of sales, Michelle Riley will be on hand during our Saturday appointments to discuss gown customization and the nuances to this beautiful line. And don’t forget, if you purchase your gown during this trunk show you receive a 10% discount off of your order, all the more reason to book as appointments are filling up quickly.
Last evening’s Golden Globes Red Carpet fashion was full of hits, with very few misses! The stars came out with their A-game fashion for sure. There were a few overriding trends throughout the evening. Shades of red were the statement color of the night. Other starlets chose to be more demure in tones of nude and blush. There was also a lot of sparkle- which we always love to see on the red carpet. From a silhouette perspective, the standout shapes were the mermaid gown and the ball skirt. It was refreshing to see many of the talents select gowns with sleeves, which based on the chilly weather in L.A. last night, was a great choice.
Here is a recap of a few of our favorite looks:
Over overall favorite look of the evening; from fashion to beauty, was Julianne Hough. She was pure perfection in her sparkly, yet ethereal, Monique Lhuillier gown!
Favorite shades of red:
Zooey Deschanel looked stunning in her classic Oscar de la Renta gown with oversized pearls and flirty ponytail. We are adding Claire Danes to our fave list, because she had a baby 1 month ago and completely rocked this halter from Versace. Her hair and makeup were also gorg! Another new mom, Jessica Alba, was flawless in a mermaid gown from Oscar de la Renta. Our favorite part of her look was her electric coral lipstick- PERFECTION!
These four women rocked the romantic neutrals trend last night. We adore the feminine shapes and delicate details on each gown and of course, we are IN LOVE with these romantic hues!
Top Row: Hayden Penetierre in Roberto Cavalli, Kerry Washington in Miu Miu.
Long Sleeved Lovelies:
These ladies looked lovely in sleeves. Each looked modern and sophisticated, yet their gown reflected their individuality.
Top Row: The current queen of soul herself Adele, looked elegant in her ¾ sleeve gown from Burberry, Naomi Watts left us all speechless in this backless 1940’s inspired confection from Zac Posen, and we couldn’t get enough of Julianne Moore’s modern sophisticated look from Tom Ford
Passion for Prints:
One of the most refreshing trends of the evening was prints.
We absolutely adored Lucy Lui’s Carolina Herrera floral printed ball gown. We wish she had made a different choice with her hair, but the gown was a show stopper! Halle Berry never disappoints and this choice was no different. We are having a love affair with soft painterly prints for bridesmaids and this look was a beautiful nod to that trend.
For all you die hard fashionistas, stay tuned to the blog tomorrow when we translate these looks from the red carpet to the white aisle.
Do tell, who has your vote for best dressed?

We can’t help but be in love with Anne Hathaway’s Valentino wedding gown which she wore last weekend when tying the knot in Big Sur, CA. Just look at the soft and ethereal layers of tulle and delicate beaded details. The neckline is nothing short of stunning and the headpiece is a lovely homage to a veil.
If you love this gown as much as we do, then stop into the boutique to try on our newest Rivini gown, Michelle with similar tulle layers, beaded details and sheer cap sleeves, this gown is sure to make heads turn. Michelle happens to be the most expensive gown in our boutique, so she is certainly a sight to behold!!

We were thrilled to hear that one of our celebrity faves, Blake Lively got married over the weekend to Ryan Reynolds in Charleston, South Carolina. We are on pins and needles waiting to hear what her she wore! It is rumored that Blake Lively’s wedding dress was designed by Georgina Chapman (no relation, unfortunately) of Marchesa. Until it is confirmed, we decided to dream up what we would outfit Blake in, given the opportunity.
Below is our pick for the lovely Mrs. Reynolds. Being that the wedding was in the South, we opted to put her in a romantic lace gown. We selected a figure flattering style from Amsale that would show off her fabulous silhouette. What you can’t see is that this gown has an incredible key hole back, which would be perfect on Blake! We have paired the gown with rose gold accessories, pumping up the romance factor!

Last week it was announced that Jennifer Aniston and new beaux Justin Theroux will be tying the knot! We love Jen and couldn’t be happier to hear the news, naturally our first inclination was to begin dreaming about the brides ensemble. Below are our picks for the big day…
Being that it is her second wedding, and we know that Jen loves to have a good time, we felt it would be fitting for her to wear a sophisticated shortie that shows of her fabulous legs and that sends the message that she is ready for a party!
