Meet the icons who inspired Romona Keveza Legends

Its almost here! We are rapidly approaching our next Romona Keveza Legends Trunk Show, which begins Friday, March 21st and runs through Saturday, the 22nd. We couldn’t be more excited to share all of these legendary gowns with our brides – especially from a line that is inspired by our favorite style icons!

By taking iconic gowns and reinventing them into timeless creations, designer Romona Keveza interprets the luxury, glamour, and elegance of classic beauties in a fresh and modern way.

Below we have paired a few iconic bridal looks with the gowns we imagined they inspired from Romona’s Spring Collection – all of which will be available for you to try on during the trunk show!

We love how updated this Audrey Hepburn inspired bateau neckline looks! Such a refreshing take on a flattering style. Add gloves to achieve a more vintage look.

romona-keveza-legends-sophia-lorenWho wouldn’t love this lace fit to flare style with it’s off the shoulder neckline and shapely skirt – it reminds us of the always sultry Sophia Loren! Pair this style with a little bling and you’ll be sure to make a statement.

When you think of a gown inspired by Grace Kelly, it doesn’t always have to mean sleeves! We love a modern interpretation like this blush lace gown. It’s unique Alençon lace and classically tailored shape make it fit for a princess. Pair this modern look with a classic lace veil for a truly romantic feeling.

Although different in fabrication, above are both examples of a classic ball skirt.  We feel Romona’s interpretation completely embodies the effortless spirit of Jackie Kennedy. With it’s iconically cinched waist and updated sheer neckline, you’re sure to make heads turn.

Ring us at 860.669.4596 to find the gown from Romona Keveza that makes you feel like a legend on your own time!  Romona’s head of sales, Michelle Riley, will be on hand during our Saturday appointments to discuss gown customization and the nuances to this beautiful line. And don’t forget, if you purchase your gown during this trunk show you will receive a 10% discount off of your order – all the more reason to book, as appointments are filling up quickly.

Modern Trousseau: {Trunk Show and Profile of a Connecticut Based Designer}

Modern Trousseau designer, Callie, and The White Dress by the shore owner, Beth Chapman.

We are thrilled to be first store to ever carry the Modern Trousseau brand.  The line, which  epitomizes classic elegance, was launched in our boutique 9 years ago.  We adore everything about it, but most importantly, the fact that it is designed and manufactured here, in our home state. Read on for more background information on this fabulous designer.

Callie has been in love with fashion since her days as a young girl growing up in Melbourne, Australia. Her favorite game of dress-up involved pulling out her Mum’s sixties- and seventies-era evening clothes, and modeling her favorite ensembles. She has marked important or special events in her life through the evolution of her wardrobe — from her first pair of high heels, her first ballgown, prom dress, and — of course — her wedding gown.

An appreciation for the impact fashion makes on our lives inspired Callie to study Fashion Design at the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology. And she loved every minute of her time there. Upon graduation, she honed her design skills in women’s and children’s wear for various Australian companies, eventually landing her a position designing wedding gowns. Callie discovered she had a special talent for creating memorable gowns, and fell in love with bridal design.

Modern Trousseau’s couture designs are the ultimate in creativity and construction. Callie loves the luxury of working with fine French and Italian laces, imported silks, and delicate beadwork, and takes great care in selecting the fabrics that bring her 2-dimensional sketches to life. When the perfect fabric cannot be located, Callie will design the intricate lace patterns and unique beadwork for production in the finest ateliers.

Nothing less than perfect is the standard Callie Tein sets for the Modern Trousseau line of bridal gowns and mother of the occasion dresses.  This originates from her belief that one’s wedding day is one of the most special days of a woman’s life, and the bride should remember herself looking and feeling gorgeous. Ultimately, a Modern Trousseau gown by Callie Tein is a one-of-a-kind, wearable works of art created to mark that very special moment when a woman becomes a bride.

Take a look inside the design studio and fitting rooms at Modern Trousseau, these images were shot by our bride and talented photographer, Christine Paluf. It is so wonderful to know that your gown has come from a local space full of people with enormous talent and who love what they do. We love that these images evoke that sense of love and highlight the craftsmanship and attention to detail that each gown receives.

We are honored to be hosting a trunk show featuring Modern Trousseau’s bridal and mother of the occasion collections from Thursday, April 9th – Saturday, April 11th.  Designer Callie Tein will be on hand on Saturday to work with you to create the perfect wedding day to look to suit your figure and your personal style.  She will bringing gowns from her 2016 that won’t be launched until bridal market the following weekend!  (what a treat)  A 10% discount will be granted on any Modern Trousseau purchase made during this exclusive event!

Because Modern Trousseau is right in our own backyard, our clients are able to take advantage of a very special process in which your gown can be custom fit to you by the designer.  This video shows the process of one of our brides taking advantage of this incredible experience.  Come visit us at the trunk show and we can explain the muslin process in more detail.

Ring us at 860.669.4596 to book an appointment for this spectacular event.

Owner and designer, Kelley Solomon, has always had a passion for style, fashion and art. Growing up loving the arts, she studied fashion and photography in college. Upon graduation, Kelley moved to Martha’s Vineyard where she created her first jewelry line, KDesign, which was sold in a variety of island exclusive boutiques.  Kelley found peace and inspiration for her jewelry through the island’s rustic charm, raw beauty, and spirituality. In 2011, she launched her new collection and named it after her favorite place on Martha’s Vineyard, Aquinnah.
