This colorful and romantic photo shoot was inspired by Marie Antoinette, Dauphine de France, and took place at a raw, un-renovated space in the design building in Hartford, Connecticut. The inspiration for our vision came from an image of a colorful place setting of china and a single white feather. Event planner extraordinaire, Candice Coppola of Jubilee Events, worked her magic and transformed the space into a sea of white, creating the perfect backdrop for the pops of color that came from the dresses, accessories, flowers and cake. Wedding photographer Carla Ten Eyck asked Candice and I to style the scene for a photography seminar. The photographers certainly had plenty of eye candy on which to focus! The fashion inspiration for this shoot was all about those pops of color. We set the stage in the fall of 2009, when short wedding dresses were just beginning to grace the runways. I opted for short, fun and flirty gowns, to complement the blissful ambiance. Taking the colors from the inspirational place setting, I selected shades of turquoise for the bridesmaid dresses. They were the perfect backdrop for the dramatic pink bouquets, created for the shoot by Blush Floral Design. The finishing touch was a turquoise sateen motorcycle jacket that we styled with a tea-length, tulle-hemmed Priscilla of Boston gown. The juxtaposition of the femininity of the tulle on the gown and the ‘edge’ of the silhouette of the motorcycle jacket were swoon-worthy and made the entire shoot for me!
