Have you had a chance to check out our latest Musings of a Stylist inspiration? It is nautical and New England chic and it’s sure to get you in the 4th of July spirit. Read on for a recount of the shoot by owner and stylist, Beth Chapman.
“Being a New Englander, I love all thing nautical and had always dreamed about styling a classic New England photoshoot. We were approached by The Connecticut Bride last spring to style the editorial shoot for their Spring/Summer issue. A dream team of talents was pulled together for the project and in conjunction with Candice Coppolla of Jubilee Events, we selected Essex, Connecticut, a picturesque New England town sprinkled with marinas, as the location for the shoot.
For the fashion, I chose gowns by Amsale and Ivy and Aster. The aesthetic was all about classic styles with a fun twist. We accessorized with oversized bows, subtle nautical details and pops of color in the shoes and jewelry from aquinnah and Kate Spade.
The highlight was being able to shoot on the “Valentine”, a 1920’s era refurbished gem of a boat, that was being maintained by my friend ‘Captain Ray’. The boat was the best accessory of the day and really allowed us to complete the story!
In addition to being our current Musings of a Stylist feature this shoot was also a spread in The Connecticut Bride magazine earlier last year. Currently on new-stands, this All- American themed shoot was by far, one of the most fun to work on!”
