Reinvent the Dress: From Vintage to Modern
As promised, here is the second installment of our new concept and blog series “Reinvent the Dress“ featuring one of our very own – store manager, Alicia Valentino! Alicia is celebrating her one year wedding anniversary this very weekend, so we thought it apropos to post it today!
Working with our head seamstress Penny Barone, Alicia re-designed her mothers vintage 1970′s silk organza and Chantilly lace gown to reflect her personal style and todays’ trends, transforming it into the sweetest little rehearsal dinner dress you have ever seen!

Introducing: Reinvent the Dress!
Have you taken a look at our Sample Sale lately? We have some real stunners at some absolutely amazing prices, thus you’ll be sure to find something you love.
However, please keep in mind that the dress of your dreams doesn’t necessarily come off the rack in its ideal form. Sometimes your perfect gown needs a little tweeking to transform it into the one for you.
That’s why we would like to introduce our new concept, ‘Reinvent the Dress,’ where we work with you to create a one of a kind gown from one that already exists! From sample, to sketch, to reality- we will customize any gown to your desired final form.
With that said, the dress doesn’t have to start with a sample- our in-house expert seamstresses will even transform your mother’s gown into your dream dress, or customize your ordered gown to show off your best assets. Samples and vintage gowns can also be tweeked and tailored to become a fabulous reception or rehearsal dinner dresses. Work with us to create the perfect look for you- the options are endless!
The example below shows the transformation of our fabulous Anne Barge sample, Polly (as seen on the cover of Martha Stewart Weddings). We re-envisioned this classic gown and sketched it as a short frock (complete with a little tulle peeking out of the hem)… perfect for yacht club nuptials or a seaside reception. Pair this new dress with classic ivory heels and pearl accessories, and you have a look that is all your own- one not to be forgotten!
