Royal Wedding Viewing Party Recap

Royal Wedding Viewing Party Recap

We adore all weddings, but when it is a Royal Wedding, we just HAVE to celebrate with a party! Below is a pictorial recap of our Royal Wedding Viewing Party.  Saturday morning our staff gathered with brides and a few of our favorite wedding vendors to watch the Royal Nuptials unfold. Our talented friends at A Thyme to Cook prepared this delightful menu for the occasion:

Jubilee Events coordinated the soiree and in collaboration with some talented partners, created a royal wedding inspired tablescape in our front window!

We adored everything about the wedding- from Meghan’s modern and classic gown (which TWD owner, Beth Chapman predicted almost exactly!), to the stunning flowers, to the guests attire, to the way that sweet Harry looked at Meghan (major swoon-fest, right?!).  Our favorite part of the wedding was how personal all of the details were.

We learned that Meghan’s 16.5 foot veil veil designed by Givency was created out of silk tulle with with a hand embroidered floral motif that represented the distinctive flora of each of the 53 countries of the British Commonwealth united in one spectacular floral composition. The veil also include two of Markle’s personal favorite flowers in the design. One is wintersweet, a modest shrub that grows on the Kensington Palace grounds in front of Nottingham Cottage. The other is the California Poppy, the state flower of California, where Markle was born.  And if that was not enough, Crops of wheat also appeared at the front of the veil, symbolizing love and charity.

Kensington Palace said in the statement. “The workers spent hundreds of hours meticulously sewing and washing their hands every thirty minutes to keep the tulle and threads pristine.”

The tiara that she wore was Queen Mary’s diamond bandeau tiara, lent to her by The Queen. The diamond bandeau is English and was made in 1932, with the entre brooch dating from 1893. Completely perfect choice with a stunning Art Deco design. Talk about a family heirloom!

We also gushed when we found that Meghan’s wedding gift from Harry was an emerald cut aquamarine ring that was Princess Diana’s.  She opted to wear that with her elegant Stella McCartney halter dress for the evening reception.

We loved the personal touches that were incorporated into the ceremony and especially appreciated the message of love and unity in the sermon from Bishop Michael Curry.  We agree with you Bishop Curry, “Love is the way.”

Royal Wedding Dress Prediction

Royal Wedding Dress Prediction

The entire wedding world is holding their breath to see what Meghan Markle will wear for her May 19th nuptials to Prince Harry. I wanted to weight in on my my Royal Wedding Dress Prediction.

Of course…being in the business that I am, I adore weddings. But, royal weddings are a whole other level of obsession.  I mean, what is more romantic than a princess getting married…and when it is an American becoming a princess?!  Well, I can hardly contain myself!  We are thrilled to be hosting a Royal Wedding Viewing Party on Saturday, May 19th in celebration of the event. All American eyes will be on the newly crowned princess and what she will be wearing.  The designer, as is standard, is being kept secret, as are most of the wedding details.

As Meghan’s aesthetic is very clean and modern, my prediction is that she will wear a clean gown with no lace.  The fabric will be structured and have a sheen – I think a beautiful mikado would be gorgeous! As she will getting married in the church, her arms will need to be covered.  My hope is that she will show off her gorgeous décolletage and cover her arms with a clean close fitting sleeve.  And of course, she will have a long beautiful train! I do think that she will wear a traditional long veil and my hope is that it will have a touch of lace on it.  She will wear some sort of tiara, as is customary. It is rumored that she will wear one from Diana’s collection.

It is unknown if she will have any attendants beyond the sweet little children (Price George, Princess Charlotte, and the daughter of her stylist Jessica Mulroney will serve as flower girls and paiges).  There is nothing more darling that the little children dressed in shades of white preceding the bride down the aisle!

Spring 2019 New York Bridal Fashion Week Trends

Spring 2019 Bridal Fashion Week Trends

We just returned from New York Bridal Fashion Week and we are still swooning over the latest trends from the Spring 2019 collections. A bride’s wedding gown should not only be a reflection her wedding aesthetic, but it should reflect her personal style and who she is.  With the current trends in bridal, there TRULY is a gown for every bride. The silhouettes, fabrications and necklines shown during Spring 2019 New York Bridal Fashion Week were diverse.

It is such an amazing time to be a bride!  There are options for all body types, venues and personal styles.  Below are the trends and some of our favorite gowns.

Sheer Cover Ups
Many designers showed coverage options on their runways.  This spanned from sheer capes, to capelets and boleros.  They were represented on both classic silhouettes as well as more avant garde options, like jumpsuits and shorts!

Clean and Classic
Many designers showed completely clean wedding gowns last season.  The difference this season was that many of them had sleeves. My favorite was the long sleeved version. To me, this is the perfect gown for a classic Fall or Winter wedding!

Textural Laces
The opposite extreme shown on the runway was gowns with unique, textural laces.

Colorful Embroidery
This daring new trend emerged this season.  Several designers took the existing embroidery trend one step further by introducing statured color in ethnic inspired floral patterns.
Temperley London
Willowby By Watters
Satin is a traditional fabric that we have not seen in some time.  Being that matte crepes have been popular for several seasons, designers are swinging the pendulum and bringing back the sheen with luxurious satin fabrics.
V-necks continue to be the hot neckline of the season.  This neckline was represented in various depths – from demure to plunging.

Whether you are a classic bride looking for a traditional gown or more of a boho bride wanting something completely unique, there is a truly an option for every bride to be!
