We are loving the newest trend in bridal, convertible wedding dresses. Designers have made it so that you don’t have to choose between a romantic or sophisticated look for your wedding day. Now, you can have both by simply adding a tulle skirt. It is easy to have one look for your ceremony and another for your reception without having to change your gown. Here are a few of favorite convertible gowns:
Augusta Jones ‘Daphne’
Anne Barge 617 ’Cassandra’
Modern Trousseau ‘Tiffani’
Modern Trousseau ‘Dove’

There is no question that we love beautiful gowns, baubles, and all things bridal, but our true passion at The White Dress by the shore is ‘styling’ the bride; in other words, we love to transform a gown that would have normally made your eye’s water into an ensemble that has you and your guests drowning in happy tears!
There is no greater joy than watching a brides eye’s light up as we add the final touches to her ensemble that truly make the gown her own and not just a dress she loved on the rack. Sometimes this means taking special measurements and making creative customizations, but other times it can be the simple addition of a sash, sleeve or veil.
For this post, we choose one of our favorite gowns in the boutique Anne Barge’s ’617′ (which we fondly named ‘Cassandra’) and show you a how to transform it with a few simply-stunning additions.

We spent the weekend in New York City sitting through runway shows and visiting the showrooms of our designers for Fall 2014 Bridal Market. By the end of the weekend after a hectic schedule and seeing hundreds of gowns from all of our favorite designers, it began to all be a blur of white. But, there were definitely a few spectacular standout trends we couldn’t be more excited about. Below is a recap of the trends for Fall 2014 bridal market:
Blush made a debut last season as the color-du-jour in bridal, but Vera Wang brought it to another level this season, by showing her entire collection in various shades of pink!
Vera’s selected more intense hues of the color for her pieces, however, I forsee Vera’s color choices being more popular for bridesmaids rather than the bride. It cannot be denied that brides respond more openly to gowns in a subtle blush tone, like this gown from Romona Keveza Legends. Blush is a romantic color that truly flatters all skin tones and we are happy to see the trend continue in varying shades this season.
2. OFF THE SHOULDER NECKLINES
We are happy to say that the neckline of the season was ‘off the shoulder’! It graced every runway.
This neckline style is so flattering because it still shows off your decolletage, but provides a little more coverage and interest than a strapless gown. It also lends itself beautifully to a sleeve at varying lengths. Check out a few of our favorites below:
Gold was also a staple at Fall 2014 Bridal Market. Many designers incorporated gold into their collection through gold thread woven into their laces, providing a subtle hint of metallic shimmer. Accessories are also taking on a golden hue, in both gold and rose gold. This warm metallic tone was a breath of fresh air against the flurry of blush tone gowns being shown.
4. DELICATE BEADING & CAP SLEEVES
Last season was all about opulent beading coming off of the Great Gatsby movie trend. This season, the beading was much more delicate and subtle; it was shown either just on the cap sleeve of a gown or all over, like these Modern Trousseau gowns:
5. DRAMATIC BACKS
The interest on wedding gowns has shifted to the back. Every designer had at least one plunging-back design in their Fall 2014 collection. We also saw quite a few illusion backs like this one from the “forever modern”, Amsale:
6. ILLUSION NECKLINES
Another hot neckline of the season is the sheer illusion neckline. It was shown in sheer lace, organza, or even at times with delicate beading. It is a very classic and elegant silhouette that flatters nearly every figure; we were so happy to see it reemerge on the runway this season.
Designers were showing beautiful textures as an alternative to lace, which has been extremely popular over the last few seasons. Our favorite was this jacquard gown from Anne Barge. With its substantial texture, it is a stunning option for a fall or winter wedding :
8. BRIDESMAIDS IN LACE
The hot trend for bridesmaids is lace!! Lace has been so popular for brides for many season, now maids get to share in the fun! Lace was shown in both short and long silhouettes, in pastels (blush and mint), metallics and in neutrals (black, grey and champagne) and we simply cannot get enough!
Please tell us, what is your favorite trend from Bridal Market!?

This gold and white combination is one of our most loved- we see it at a glam evening wedding or to add a little sparkle to a more rustic affair.
Deep silver and hot orange make for an exciting combination! We could see this monogrammed clutch at a modern rooftop wedding for sure!
The graphic pattern on this bag has a touch of nautical-prep in this color combination. This chevron clutch is perfect for a seaside affair!
