As an extension of our âAsk the Expertsâ blog series, we have created a new blog category called âAsk Bethâ.  The White Dress by the shore owner and stylist, Beth Chapman will answer any wedding fashion related questions you may have.
For our second installment of this series we choose to answer a recent question that was emailed to us relating to 'what to wear' as a Mother of the Occasion.
"Dear Beth,
I recently purchased my bridal gown and bridesmaid dresses through you. My wedding is in August and has a 'garden' feel to it. My gown is champagne and my bridesmaids dresses are blush. What would style and color would you reccomend that my mother should wear to compliment the look of the wedding? - Katherine"
Here is Beth's response:
"Katherine, we adore the color palatte that you have selected for your wedding and we are so honored to dress you and your bridal party.  I loved that you used the word 'compliment' when describing what your mother should wear!  I definitely reccomend that the mothers involved in the wedding select a color and silhouette that work within the wedding palate, but that they avoid a color that is too close to the bridal party. We want them to make their own statement,  but for photos, it is nice if they work within the feel of the wedding. I would recommend a style like the Vivian Leigh Sheath from San Francisco based designer, Siri,  for your mom. It is an incredibly flattering silhouette that is perfect for an August wedding. The color 'patina' is a gorgeous grey tone with a hint of blue in it. It would work beautifully within your color palette.  We also have a stunning Badgley Mischka shoe that would compliment the dress perfectly! Have your Mom give us a call for an appointment.
