In preparation for our upcoming Bridal & Maids Trunk Show we wanted to share the story of LulaKate's fabulous designer, Katherine McDonald. Take a peek below and then book an appointment to come see us during the Trunk Show June 5th-7th. And as a special treat, visit us on Thursday for a chance to meet Katherine herself! She will be here to help outfit brides and maids in the perfect LulaKate for their big day! 860.669.4596 about-us In 2003, Katherine McDonald began to design her own collection of simple, fun womenâs clothing. Based in Charleston, South Carolina, she was inspired by the classic, graceful surroundings of her southern home. Originally LulaKate was a locally based clothing company featuring skirts, tops, and belts for women. Since 2003 the company has evolved and we have shifted focus to our bridal and bridesmaid collections. LulaKate met with great success and in 2007 Katherine opened her flagship store on King Street in downtown Charleston. With our focus on the bridesmaid collection, we worked to create timeless silhouettes in a range of styles. Because LulaKate started as a classic ready-to-wear womenâs clothing collection, our dresses are truly worthy of being worn time and time again. The versatility of each individual dress will have your bridesmaidâs thanking you long after the wedding. In 2011 LulaKate released our Bridal Alternative Collection nationwide. Throughout the years LulaKate dresses have become synonymous with chic, southern elegance that has continued to shine through our Bridal gowns. A recent decision in late 2012 landed us back in the ready to wear line of work.  We missed the patterns and prints of our every day dresses; and honestly our closets were dwindling rapidly as we out wore (ahem..grew) all of our vintage LulaKate with nothing worthy to replace it. So, as us Lulaâs started looking around for fresh prints and rich fabrics from NY vendors to make dresses for ourselves, we realized we may be on something. Perhaps other Lula lovers missed our bright printed dresses and flirty skirts as well. And with that we turned back to our roots and the  revival of our ready to wear line began. LulaKate continues to create flattering silhouettes and adding to the grace and sound design of each style. From the time you place your order, until we receive it from our seamstresses, your gowns will be treated with great care and attention.
