Musings of a Stylist: {Modern Ocean House}

Our latest Musings of a Stylist  Inspiraiton Page is up on the site. This stylized shoot was part of Collaborate and Create, a seminar put together by Candice Coppola of Jubilee Events and photographer, Carla Ten Eyck.  The seminar, which took place at the magical Ocean House in Watch Hill, Rhode Island, was created to assist photographers and event planners in developing the skills to produce a collaborative, stylized shoot. Candice, Carla and I have been partnering for years, so it was fun for me to work with some new talents during the seminar. The vision for the shoot was a contemporary take on a quintessential, New England, beachside wedding. The tablescape was designed by Candice Coppola and was executed by Kelli Burg of Simply Beautiful Events. Candice used a classic blue and white toile linen and incorporated pops of color through the flowers and festive paper pom-poms positioned on the backs of the chairs. The contemporary feel was reflected in the clean lines of the centerpieces designed by Tony Palmeri of Datura: a modern garden, which were birch cylinders holding branches, fun balls of green trick dianthus, bright orange ranunculus and blue delphinium. Tony was also responsible for the incredible vine orb that decorated the alter at the ceremony site. The âbride and groomâ are a real couple who have been since been married. We had the extreme honor of dressing the bride Mandy, who has been our muse for several shoots, for her Costa Rican nuptials last summer. When planning the fashion for the shoot, I followed the contemporary inspiration and selected a clean, simple cotton gown by Vineyard Collection by Priscilla of Boston. I brought in a pop of color through the dahlia that Mandy wore in her hair and a custom necklace by bella Perlina that was designed specifically for the project.
