Musings of A Stylist: Darling Sherbet Shoot, as seen in 'Southern New England Destinations'
May 14, 2014
Just in time for Spring, we are thrilled to post our Sherbet Inspired Styled Shoot which recently made it's debut in Southern New England Destinations. Scroll below for a peek at all the pretty along with a recount of the inspiration behind this stunning pastel soiree inspired shoot styled by owner and stylist, Beth Chapman.
Â
Last summer, my co-authors of The White Dress in Color- photographer, Carla Ten Eyck and event designer, Candice Coppola of Jubilee Events- and I were asked by Southern New England Weddings Magazine to style their editorial spread for their Winter 2013 edition. Candice and I discussed what was currently inspiring us and we decided on the romantic spring-like tones of mint and blush with a whimsical feel. We affectionately called this shoot the âsherbet shootâ, as our color palate was inspired by rainbow sherbet. I also quickly learned that the proper spelling for sherbet is without an R- who knew?!
Another point of inspiration for us were vintage florals. I pulled the detail in through a floral printed vintage umbrella, vintage hat boxes and a floral linen in the colors of the palate that we used as a back drop. In planning the fashion,  I scoured my friend Tovaâs vintage shop and discovered two stunning pieces- a 1950âs wedding dress and a mint green vintage beaded top which we incorporated into the shoot. What I love about the fashion from this shoot is that it is difficult to differentiate between what is old and what is new! We selected the Cottages at Lord Thompson Manor as the location, as we loved how the soft colors came to life against the all-white backdrop of the venue.  Despite a tornado warning that occurred right in the middle of the shoot, it was a fun-filled day bursting with pretty results! Donât you agree?!
